About the Event

Take a walk from the Tower with an expert guide
taking in some of the key installations including:

Control Tower – with its exhibitions and observation deck
WW2 Memorials – commemorates two accidents in December 1944
Old runway – the original tarmac at the taxiway crossover point
501st Tactical Missile Wing HQ*
Fire plane used for fire training*
GAMA Ground Launched Cruise Missile Alert and Maintenance Area*
The Blue Gate of the Women’s Peace Camp

The walk is about 3 miles and takes just over 2 hours.

As you visit the various sites your guide will explain the history of each in more detail.

You will also receive a handout to take away.

The café at the Tower will be open for
refreshments (optional) on your return.

What to wear

It can get quiet windy on the common so please wear sensible clothing and footwear, since some of the terrain is uneven. Walkers join at their own risk.
