Nature Writing as an Act of Protest.

Nature writer and campaigner Nicola Chester will talk about the wildlife she encounters on a daily basis in our area, what inspires her to write and why she must.

Nicola grew up in West Berkshire and has lived beside the river that inspired The Wind in the Willows, below the hill where Richard Adams wrote Watership Down, next to Greenham Common as the missiles came in, next to Newbury Bypass as that was built and in a tied cottage on Highclere Estate, before it became ‘Downton Abbey’! She is the RSPB’s longest running female columnist, a Guardian Country Diarist¬† and has written over 700 column pieces for the award-winning Newbury Weekly News, as well as having essays in books on wild writing.

Doors open at 7pm, and the event is 7.30pm – 8.30pm.

Cafe available serving hot and cold drinks and cake.
