Friday 11th December 2020 is an important date for Greenham Control Tower.
All donations we receive between now and that day will be double matched by the Greenham Trust and help secure our 2021 plans.
We can also accept cheque or postal donations and if any companies are looking to maximise donations, this would be welcomed as well.
On this day our volunteers will be running two very special online activities for the public to celebrate this.
Do you have unique stories, pictures and videos concerning the Tower, the airbase or the Common’s history? If so we would love you to share them with us.
If you give us your permission, then we hope to use some of them in our Air Tattoo and Peace Protests exhibitions next year. Or we may add them to a new digital archive that is being developed for our website to help everyone understand the Tower’s heritage.
Please send your submissions, labelled ‘Digital Archive’ to – INFO@GREENHAMTOWER.ORG.UK
Professor Andy Kempe will be telling some fun, educational Greenham Common stories online on the day.
“What on earth could link the partial destruction of a house in the East End of London in 1944 to man landing on the moon in 1969 and cruise missiles being sited on Greenham Common in 1983?.”
The talk is suitable for all ages and will be launched at 7am on the 11th via Youtube.
These talks were planned to take place at the Tower but this is not possible under current restrictions.
The talk is now live:
